Volunteer with us

Our team is almost entirely volunteer run. We’re always looking for more support, and are very open to hearing your ideas to get involved.

Aside from supporting our mission to end drowning, volunteering with AP is a chance to build experience and skills, work with an amazing group of individuals in a variety of fields, log hours on the water, build your portfolio, add to your CV & professional development, and to have fun in a meaningful way.

We’ve outlined some roles and tasks with which we currently or consistently need support. They vary in time commitment, frequency, and location. If you see something for which you are interested and qualified but the logistical parameters don’t exactly match, please contact us at volunteer@atlanticpacific.org.uk regardless.

When possible, we are happy to structure volunteer roles to meet external requirements, e.g. internships or employer-sponsored volunteer hours.

Please note: These are unpaid positions. We can often cover travel and other expenses. In an ideal world (and hopefully in future!) we will be in a position to pay all of our staff. Your generous contributions of time and skill get us closer to this possibility.

  • We are seeking medical professionals such as medics, doctors, nurses, emergency responders, etc who can teach first aid for our Casualty Care course, especially in London but also occasionally in Wales and abroad.

Time Commitment: Varies. Not needed for some months, but could be 3 days per month.

Location: Ideally UK (London) based. If you’re based in the EU and interested, still be in touch, there are always some ways of being involved.

  • Are you experienced in maritime SAR? We’re always looking for instructors for our SAR courses, especially in London but also occasionally in Wales and abroad when we support other organisations, especially in the Mediterranean.

    Requirements:

    • RYA PB Instructor

    • Current, RYA approved 1st aid certificate or equivalent

    • Operational SAR experience

Time Commitment: Varies. Not needed for some months, but could be several days per month.

Location: Ideally UK (London) based. If you’re based in the EU and interested, still be in touch, there are always some ways of being involved.

  • We need professional support for our fundraising efforts. Ideally this would be a longer-term, ongoing role, but we are also open to project-based work.

If you are a fundraising whizz who wants to regularly be actively involved in a meaningful project, we’d love to meet you. Conversely, if you only have time to submit a handful of grant applications on our behalf, we would also be very appreciative.

Time Commitment: +/-10 hours once, or monthly basis.

Location: anywhere / remote, with experience in UK context

  • Our Comms team is dedicated but small — we have many ideas but only so many hours in the day! We need help with content creation, graphic design, SEO copy, blog writing, Google ads and analytics.

Time Commitment: +/-15 hours on a monthly basis.

    Location: remote

  • We have a library of interesting video footage and many ideas for promotional, educational, and documentary style videos we’d like to make. We’re missing the capacity and technical skills to create them.

This role could be any length of time: one-time, project based, recurring support, etc. We’re also very open to your creative ideas if you are looking to practise your skills or build a portfolio.

Time Commitment: +/-15 hours (one time or project dependent)

    Location: anywhere / remote

  • We are always looking for photographers and videographers to document our courses, specific events or to help us create visual assets for promotion and educational purposes. Would be on an occasional or project basis.

Time Commitment: Project basis, roughly +/- 5 hours a few times a year.

Location: UK, ideally London. We can cover travel costs in some cases.

  • Our many projects require a lot of administrative work. Are you someone who enjoys organising, has experience with Google Workspace, project planning, report writing, and or budgets?

Since it would require familiarisation with AP and training, this would ideally be a longer-term, ongoing role. Perfect for professionals who have some time to give, or for entry-level graduates who are looking for experience.

Time Commitment: +/-15 hours on a monthly basis.

Location: Ideally London, but could be arranged from anywhere. Eventually this role could be based out of our training centre at the Royal Docks in Newham.

  • Our Japanese team needs help translating content from English to Japanese. This includes a backlog of text for website and blog articles which would be a one-time project, as well as ongoing work with small texts for blog and social media platforms.
