Make a Donation: Programme at UWC Atlantic

Atlantic Pacific is embarking on an exciting new project at UWC Atlantic that will reinvigorate Search & Rescue at the seafront. We have recently signed a service agreement that will see us delivering training and expertise to the next generation of humanitarians. Initially working with 30 students, our expert team (mainly made up of AC graduates) will provide training sessions twice a week, on land and sea.

Atlantic Pacific is an organisation that was borne from the pioneering history of UWC Atlantic’s vibrant seafront and the incredible invention of the Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat. After nearly 50 years as an operational RNLI station, in 2013, the Atlantic Class Lifeboat stationed at St. Donats launched one last time and closed a chapter on sea rescue at the college, only for a new narrative to begin, and the ambition to Provide Lifeboats Where There Are None.

Designed and built by an enthusiastic group of students, Hahn 001 (Wales Go) is a 4.5m RIB that fits within APs other invention, Lifeboat in a Box: A 40ft shipping container converted in to a mobile lifeboat station that contains everything required to run an operational lifeboat. We will now work with the students at UWC Atlantic to continue these projects with Mozambique becoming our next destination.

To deliver this training we will need support, and we are now reaching out to those who have benefitted from the experience of confronting the Bristol Channel and gone on to tell the tales later.
We are launching a campaign to raise £150,000 to deliver 18months of training and lay the foundation for a major renovation project that will include new workshops, boat storage, a marine laboratory and an engine repair shop.

Help us to realise this project by supporting our programme.
