Summer School 2017 Application is now closed.
For those that have applied we will be in touch by the end of February 2017.
INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS:
We are looking for all types of volunteers. There will be an emphasis on sea rescue during the summer school and so applicants must be comfortable entering the water, however we will need people to engage with the various stages of a Search and Rescue operation. This includes working onshore as well as project co-ordination and management. If you think you can help Atlantic Pacific and its mission, please apply. Accommodation and catering is included in the cost of each course. The Summer School will take place at UWC Atlantic College in South Wales.
Further information about Atlantic Pacific International Rescue Boat Project can be found on our website (http://www.atlanticpacific.org.uk/) or our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/atlanticpacificrescueboats/?ref=aymt_homepage_panel).
1. Atlantic Pacific Crew Member: Beginner
17th-23rd June, 2017
This 7-day course will teach the core skills necessary to be a crew member or deckhand for an Atlantic Pacific Search and Rescue mission. No previous experience is required, though a demonstrated interest in Atlantic Pacific and its mission, as well as similar operations, is desirable.
2. RYA Powerboat Level 2
24th-25th June, 2017
This 2-day course will be comprised of the internationally recognised RYA syllabus and result in certification and an RYA Powerboat Level 2 license (providing participants pass the assessment). This course is offered in many places elsewhere, though applicants will find our course to be competitively priced. The resulting license is a prerequisite to attend our Advanced course (see below).
3. Atlantic Pacific Crew Member: Advanced
26th June-2nd July, 2017
Previous experience is necessary for this course which will focus more on boat-handling. It is not necessary to have attended last year’s Atlantic Pacific Summer School, but for those who did, these 7 days intend to build on the skills participants acquired last year. NB: For insurance purposes, this course is ONLY AVAILABLE to those who possess a valid RYA Powerboat Level 2 license. Failure to produce a valid license will prevent you from being able to participate in the course and, unfortunately, we will not be able to reimburse the cost of the course.
APPLICATION DEADLINE AND DEPOSIT:
The deadline for all applications is midnight on Thursday, 16th February 2017 (GMT). Unfortunately, any late applications will not be considered. We will be in touch shortly afterwards.
If your application is successful, a non-refundable deposit of £100 must be paid to Atlantic Pacific no later than 1st April in order to secure your place.
If you have any queries or concerns regarding this application, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
